Stockholm arbitration rejected the claim of Lithuania on collecting with “Gazprom” €1.4 bn In the same amount Vilnius was assessed an overpayment for supplied Russian gas
Stockholm arbitration rejected the claim of the Lithuanian government, demanding to oblige “Gazprom” to pay €1.4 billion in compensation for overpayment for gas, said Wednesday Minister of energy of Lithuania Rokas Masiulis.
“The Stockholm arbitration court did not consider violations of the Russian concern”, — quotes its words of the Lithuanian edition of Delfi. The Minister noted that Lithuania was disappointed with the arbitration decision.
Masiulis said that the parties share the court costs in half — for €0.5 million.
The representative “Gazprom” has failed to promptly comment on this information to RBC.
The government of Lithuania has addressed in the Stockholm arbitration court in October 2012. Vilnius demanded compensation for overpayment for Russian gas, which, according to his statement, formed in 2004-2012. Claims of Lithuania amounted to €1.4 billion.
Shortly before the Arbitration Institute of Stockholm chamber of Commerce (the “SCC”) made the decision under the claim “Gazprom” to Ministry of energy of Lithuania. Gazprom contested the right of officials to intervene in the management of the gas company Lietuvos dujos which shareholder was the Russian holding company. Then the court granted most of the demands of the Russian holding.
