Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich on the TV channel RBC in the framework of the Russian investment forum which is being held in Sochi, confirmed the signing of directives for the resignation of President of “Rostelecom” Sergey Kalugin
“Yes, indeed, prepared the Directive of the government”, — said the Vice-Premier of the TV channel RBC in response to the question that there are rumors about the imminent resignation of the President of “Rostelecom” Sergey Kalugin.
The Directive instructs the state representatives how to vote on certain issues in the Board of Directors of “Rostelecom”. The decision to dismiss the head and the appointment of a new must be approved by the Board of Directors. The company has no information about the date of the meeting.
That the Ministry of communications has prepared a Directive on changing the head of “Rostelecom” Sergey Kalugin and sent it to the government office, February 16, reported the newspaper “Vedomosti”, citing its sources. According to the publication, the place of Kalugin, the Ministry has proposed the appointment of a Deputy Chairman of VTB Michael Tatarstan. Dvorkovich also confirmed that such nominee is considered.
As told RBC several sources, the candidacy of Tatarstan for the post of head of Rostelecom “lobbying group VTB, which plans to sell the state operator its share in their joint venture “T2 RTK Holding” (renders mobile communication services under the Tele2 brand. — RBC).
However, later, the head of VTB Andrey Kostin said that the group is not discussing the sale of shares in “T2 RTK Holding” Rostelecom. “We at this stage, this topic is not discussed. I do not think that the shareholders of Tele2 this subject today seriously consider,” — said Kostin. At the same time, he noted that the stake in the joint venture “T2 RTK holding” can change.
Sergey Kalugin became President of Rostelecom in March 2013. It was awarded a two-year contract in March 2015, was extended for another three years. After the departure of “Rostelecom” Sergey Kalugin can become a Deputy Minister of Telecom and mass communications, previously reported TASS with reference to its sources.
