In 2016 the average daily number of transported by taxi passengers in the capital increased more than two times and exceeded $ 582 thousand. More than 85% of all orders were made through mobile apps. Most experts believe that a few years later the taxi aggregators will finally destroy the taxi companies
In 2016, the Moscow daily quantity of taxi customers exceeded 582 thousand people, according to capital Department of transport at the request of RBC. This figure was 2.2 times higher than in 2015 (260 thousand). In total, according to Ministry’s estimates, the total passenger traffic in a taxi in the past year amounted to 212 million people.
More private and legal
According to the Department, the waiting time is not reduced compared to the previous year, it remained within seven minutes, but it’s “one of the best indicators in the world.” The Agency acknowledged that such a result is associated with the increase in the number of automobile taxis in the city and variety of ordering methods (including through Internet aggregators).
The growing popularity of taxi in Moscow is confirmed by the number of licenses issued for taxi operations. On January 1, 2017, in Moscow acted 74 thousand licenses. For 2016 they have been issued approximately 14 thousand, 2015 — 9.6 thousand Increase in the number of licenses issued to individual entrepreneurs: at the end of 2016 their number was 23.5 vs 21.3 thousand thousand in 2015.
Aggregators vs parks
In August 2016, the head of the Department of transport of Moscow Maxim Liksutov said that Internet aggregators accounted for 85% of all organized trips. According to respondents RBC experts and market participants, it is the development of aggregators has changed the rules of the game in the market.
According to the co-owner of “taxi Bro” Phillip Nikonov, by the end of 2017, 90% of taxi in big cities will pass through aggregators. “Market orders through taxi companies die,” — says the interlocutor of RBC. In his opinion, they can compete with aggregators and get the majority of the orders directly only in cities with a population of less than 300 thousand inhabitants. “But ultimately, the aggregators will be closed and this niche”, — said Nikonov.
Nikonov offered to taxi under its own brand name “taxi Bro” in Moscow, however, could not compete with the aggregators. Now his company works exclusively with “Yandex.Taxi”, receiving orders from the service. “Local brands will have no economic result, it is necessary to focus on aggregators. No market player can’t afford an advertising campaign the scale of “Yandex” or Uber”, — he explained.
This confirms the Chairman of the uniting owners of taxi companies of the public movement “Forum taxi” Oleg Amosov. “On the one hand, aggregators have destroyed the traditional approach of “killing” the part of the taxis. But, on the other hand, offer a truly convenient service for both passengers and drivers,” says Amos. With the advent of aggregators number of trips increased by 30%, and this contributed to the popularization of the private carting, estimated by the expert.

The development of aggregators and the subsequent reduction of tariffs for transportation of not only ousted from the market by specialized companies, and reduced the number of professional taxi drivers, said Amos. Their place was taken by motorists. This model is the first to promote Uber, which launched the service call to the carrier in his native San Francisco in 2009. According to the original plan, the service has linked the driver who wants to earn money, with fellow travelers, which is why the trip was cheap. Later, the company faced claims from States and legal drivers who accused her of illegal activities. Strikes against online aggregators took place in Moscow.
Any taxi company will also give aggregators the number of machines that can leave the execution of the order, since the aggregators are consolidating the power of multiple taxi companies and private taxi drivers. For example, in the system “Yandex.Taxi” (according to unofficial statistics, is considered the largest aggregator in Moscow of the “big three” along with Uber and Gettaxi) is 120 thousand cars, which can go on the flight. For comparison, the number of cars in the New transport company (brand “New yellow taxi”) from the beginning of 2016 the number of cars decreased from 1003 to 320, said Amos. The comment of the representative of the “New yellow taxi” failed to obtain.
As noted by the representative aggregator “Maxim” (one of the three largest taxi companies in Russia) Paul Stennikov, taxi companies do not “die”, and reregistered. “In order to fit into the economy, they refuse the services of private doctors, mechanics, dispatchers and delegate all these tasks to outsourcing companies,” he says. According to him, it often happens that taxi companies pereorientirovanija on other niches: for example, start working only with corporate clients.
