In the service HideMe.ru which in January was blocked by Roskomnadzor, said that the Agency is trying to achieve from anonymizers and VPN services restrict access to banned web pages
Roskomnadzor trying to negotiate with anonymizers and VPN services on the limitation of access to materials entered in the register is prohibited. About this “Vedomosti” said Director General of the service HideMe.ru (now HideMy.name) Marcus Saar.
According to him, HideMe.ru in November 2016 was entered in the register of banned sites, almost immediately after the claims have eliminated the revealed violations the regulator, Roskomnadzor, however, was in no hurry to withdraw the lock.
In letters to representatives of Roskomnadzor to HideMe.ru consulted the edition, the regulator asked about the possibility to technically restrict users of the services anonymizer and VPN access web pages and resources that are blocked on the territory of Russia the law “On information”. As stressed by the Saar, such a request goes beyond the rights of Roskomnadzor, and the service is regarded as attempt of pressure. For these reasons, the service had not complied with the request but, according to CEO HideMe.ru this step went anonymizer Cameleo.
According to Saar, HideMe.ru tried to advertise on the website Cameleo, however Roskomnadzor asked to remove it. As a result, the problem of unlocking the resource had to be addressed through higher authorities with the help of lawyers and only after this restriction was lifted, said the newspaper.
The representative of Roskomnadzor Vadim Ampelonskiy said that anonymizers are prohibited in Russia, because they allow you to access blocked or restricted content. He also said that in recent anonymizers cooperate with Roskomnadzor, in particular connected to a single registry and begin to restrict access to the sites.
VPN services and anonymizers allow users to get anonymous access to prohibited or blocked Internet resources.
