Earlier at a meeting with Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev Mikhail Oseyevsky said the head of “Rostelecom” intends to work on expanding the Suite of digital services and new areas of services, distribution in inaccessible regions. The former banker also said that it plans to raise internal efficiency and reducing costs in the company.
Kalugin invited to become a Deputy Minister of Telecom and mass communications, said earlier the head of the Ministry Nikolai Nikiforov. Sergey Kalugin also nominated to the Board of Directors of “Rostelecom” as the representative of the state. In addition to him, candidates from the state to the Board are: Mikhail Oseevsky, the special representative of the President of Russia on environmental issues, ecology and transport Sergei Ivanov, the head of the Russian direct investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev, General Director of STC “Channel “Russia” Anton Zlatopolsky, the first Deputy Chairman of Vnesheconombank Mikhail Poluboyarinov and Vice-President of Gazprombank Alexander Pchelintsev.
Sergey Kalugin became President of Rostelecom in March 2013. It was awarded a two-year contract, and in March 2015 it was extended for another three years. While obvious claims to the work of Kalugin could not be told earlier Raiffeisen Bank analyst Sergei Libin. The head of VTB Andrey Kostin, however, later said that at this stage the group is not discussing the sale of its interest in the joint venture “Rostelecom”, although it was stipulated that the share of “T2 RTC Holding” will vary.
“T2 RTC holding” was created in 2014 through the merger of the mobile assets of Rostelecom and Tele2 Russia. Rostelecom received 45% of the company, the rest in unknown proportion divided VTB, the structure of Bank Rossiya and Alexey Mordashov. In early 2013, VTB bought 100% of Tele2 Russia from Swedish Tele2 AB, and in the fall sold 50% in the operator structures of Bank Rossiya and Alexei Mordashov.
